How To Use

Welcome to Directstereo.com!

Introduction

Directstereo.com´s aim is to help independent musicians and unsigned artists to offer their music and for music lovers to discover independent music at one central place. Using DirectStereo.com is very easy, first of all you have to create your free account. Creating your account is totally free and there are no subscriptions. Once logged in, you can: -Download music for free! -Upload your tracks or music albums and sell them. (please note that the tracks you upload have to be owned by you.) -Purchase tracks or music albums -Create your own personal blog -Get your own personal page with your own unique url like: www.directstereo.com/YOURNAME -Rate purchased tracks or music albums and receive credit in return -Comment on purchased tracks or music albums -place a widget of our music player with your tracks on any forum or blog -Discover great new artists and music easily!

Registering

You can register for free by clicking here, fill out the form. You will receive a confirmation mail with a activation link. Once you click this link you can login and start using all the functions of DirectStereo.com!

Upload tracks/albums

You can upload single tracks, or you can upload an complete album at once.If you want to upload a single track, go to My Tracks and click Submit new track.Click Select MP3 File and search for the MP3 file you want to upload. The upload will start once you click "Open". After that enter the name of the track, the genre and some additional information like the price people have to pay after 2 weeks to download the track. (separate tracks are offered 2 weeks for free after upload).

To upload a complete album at once, simply create a ZIP archive containing all tracks of your album and artwork (An album must contain a minimum of 4 tracks). Go to the page “My Albums” and click add complete album. Search your ZIP file and the upload will start. Once the file is uploaded, you can give every track a name, select a genre for your album, choose a price for your album. (a album will never be free, but at least 2 tracks should be for a period of 2 weeks.)

You can also select which tracks should be free for the first 2 weeks and which shouldn’t. You can do this at My Albums by editing your album and simply mark the box in front of the track.

Browse the site

You can browse DirectStereo.com at many different ways, you can click on a genre at the left of the page, you can look at the top 50’s, you can check which tracks and albums are added last or you can search for a track or artist if you already know the name. If you find a track that you like, you can listen a preview of the track by clicking the small icon with the headphone, or you can add it to your playlist by clicking the + icon.If you want to purchase the track, click on the shopping basket, if the track is free, it will be available for download at once. Otherwise it is added to your basket, you can pay your basket with your credits.

Buy credits

You can buy credits to purchase tracks and albums. You can do this by going to the “My Credits” page, where you can find a complete overview of your credits, and clicking the “Buy credits” button, simply enter the amount of credits you want to buy. After that you can choose if you want to pay with PayPal or your preferred credit card. Just follow these easy steps and your credits are added to your account!

Download tracks/albums

When you buy a track, it will be added to your cart. After paying for it, the track(s) will stay available to you for download for 48 hours. You can find your tracks at “My Downloads.” All the tracks are put in a ZIP file so you can easily download them. When downloaded, you can extract your tracks and play them with your favorite player. We do not use DRM so you can use any compatible player and/or burn your tracks on a cd for personal use. Please do not share your tracks with anyone else because this is illegal. Tracks are not expensive and you support the artist by purchasing them.

Request a payout

When your tracks or albums are downloaded, you receive credits. These credits are yours and can of course be paid to you. Before you can request a payout you need to have a minimum amount of credits received of EUR - USD or GBP 25,- At the “My Credits” page, click Request Payout, fill out the amount of credits you want to get paid and click next. Payouts are made every 1st of the month via Paypal so please register yourself with a valid email address. Please note that you are responsible for any taxes that you may have to pay for your earnings.

Add a blog

As an artist, you can keep a blog, here you can post what you are working on or what other artist you have spotted! You can create a blog by going to “My Blogs” and a add a blog. Your blog will be visible on your artist page for which you have a unique url. You can find this by going to www.directstereo.com/YOURNAME.
